A philosophical thought...
A runaway trolley car is hurtling down a track. In its path are five people who will definitely be killed unless you, a bystander, flip a switch which will divert it on to another track, where it will kill one person. Should you flip the switch?
no, don't flick that switch. those five people may not wish to be saved, while the one person may have a family etc who need them. and anyway, why is it suddenly your decision who lives or dies? surely if there was a god, he/she/it would intervene and save all six people? Lucy
if you flip that switch then you are responsible for that person's death and you are then a murderer. but then you've just saved 5 people's lives.if you don't flip it you havn't done anything wrong because you didn't kill anybody, but you know you could have saved 5 people.you're going to feel guilty either way, flip it.
